2 Weeks Old

Wow! Time is flying by! Andrew was two weeks old on Friday. We went to see Dr. Austin for a check up. Dr. Austin said he is in perfect health. Andrew has had clogged tear ducts so we are to continue putting warm compress on them and massaging the duct. It has been getting better. :-) Andrew weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces putting him in the 36% for weight and measured 20 inches long (25 %). He has gained 7 ounces in the past 2 weeks. Praise the Lord!

We spoke to Dr.Austin and Dr. Shelly (For those of you who don't know Shelly is my lifeline. I am texting her throughout the day ... thankfully not the night yet ha!.... asking her questions!!! She is always so willing to share information and help me with motherhood! ) about getting Andrew to sleep at night. He seemed to have his days and nights confused.  Dr. Austin told us to have him eat every three hours (it takes him about 45 minutes to drink his bottle) and after he eats have him stay awake (strive for an hour) and then sleep for an hour. Well, it worked like a charm! Andrew is now only waking up for a 1:30 feeding in the middle of the night. This makes for one happy mamma!!!

James (The Superdad) realized he was refluxing in the middle of the night and then would choke until he could get it back down, so we tried putting him in the bouncer. But that didn't work so we ended up buying a Nap Nanny. Although it is ridiculously expensive, it also made all the difference in the world. He no longer sounds like he is choking which puts both his parents at ease.

At two weeks you are:
* Eating 3 ounces of breast milk every 3 hours
* Love sounds. You will not go to sleep in mommy and daddy are talking.
*Wearing newborn diapers and clothes (but you have already out grown some of the sleepers :-( )
* Are great at grabbing your daddy's collarbone and pulling the skin
*Swing your arms around consistently knocking out your paci (Which Daddy calls your stopper)
* Make the cutest little grunting sounds, especially when you can't fall asleep.
