Ben strongly dislikes his baths. He screams the entire time. :-)

NICU 2
June 19
Update on Baby Ben
it looks definite at this point that Ben has meningitis with his sepsis. This will prolong his length of antibiotic treatment; we should get to meet with the Infectious Disease doctor sometime today. We were feeling a little anxious and discouraged last night, but we had a VERY encouraging snuggle time with Ben this morning. He is beginning to feel more comfortable overall. He opened his eyes to gaze at daddy and enjoyed a little nap on mommy's chest. We are so thankful for everyone's prayers and God's great hand of healing!

Today, my milk supply greatly decreased (An usual event during a traumatic experience) and I spent a lot of time with the lactation nurse trying to get it back up. I know that Baby Ben NEEDS it :) It has been a frustrating process. James keeps reminding me.. it is like milking a cow. Thanks, James!

NICU
If you are on Facebook, then you have already read these... but I want to record them on our blog. :-)
God definitely grew us individually and as a family when we found out Ben was moved to the NICU. It is amazing because during this most difficult time, I have never felt closer to God or James. So very thankful they walked by my side during all of this. We know God has BIG plans for Ben. We pray he will have an obedient heart.

Our sweet Ben had to be moved to the NICU late last night. They suspect he has an infection (neonatal sepsis of unknown source). He is on antibiotics, fluids, and oxygen and we are waiting for test results and a spinal tap to determine more.
We will never forget walking down into the NICU. You scrub your hands like a surgeon. Tears could not be held back as you walk into the room and see your helpless baby lying in the warming bed, fighting for his life. There is nothing that you as a parent can do but pray. Ben felt so bad. He could not be consoled like a healthy baby. Whenever we walked into the room, he felt had to "tell" us in his "kitty" voice everything that had been done.

BLT
Benjamin Luke Tyler made his debut on June 17 at 4:24. He weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. I was induced around 7:30 am. I had planned to have an epidural, but God had different plans. Bringing Ben into the world was one of the most difficult things I have ever endured. I am thankful for my encouraging and patient husband who helped coach me through the pains. I also had a wonderful nurse who stayed by our side once I told her I never took a birthing class because I had NO INTENTION of having a NATURAL birth. I pushed for 9 minutes. Ben is absolutely beautiful and a true blessing to our family. He completes our family of FOUR!!!
Andrew so excited to meet Ben!!!
This blanket used to be Ethan's. So neat! Ethan was SUCH a good cousin and very mesmorized by Ben.

Character Day
Andrew had Character Day at school today. Since I can't remember what he has going on anymore... here is his last minute outfit. He was Goofy, one of his favorites!
