Just Chillin

Andrew sleeps so well in his Nap Nanny. Look how relaxed he is :-)

Sounds all Around

Andrew LOVES sounds.  When he is fussy, I put him in his crib to listen to his mobile. It works like a charm. He will puff his lips and listen to the music. He definitely has the love of music. :-)

2 Weeks Old

Wow! Time is flying by! Andrew was two weeks old on Friday. We went to see Dr. Austin for a check up. Dr. Austin said he is in perfect health. Andrew has had clogged tear ducts so we are to continue putting warm compress on them and massaging the duct. It has been getting better. :-) Andrew weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces putting him in the 36% for weight and measured 20 inches long (25 %). He has gained 7 ounces in the past 2 weeks. Praise the Lord!

We spoke to Dr.Austin and Dr. Shelly (For those of you who don't know Shelly is my lifeline. I am texting her throughout the day ... thankfully not the night yet ha!.... asking her questions!!! She is always so willing to share information and help me with motherhood! ) about getting Andrew to sleep at night. He seemed to have his days and nights confused.  Dr. Austin told us to have him eat every three hours (it takes him about 45 minutes to drink his bottle) and after he eats have him stay awake (strive for an hour) and then sleep for an hour. Well, it worked like a charm! Andrew is now only waking up for a 1:30 feeding in the middle of the night. This makes for one happy mamma!!!

James (The Superdad) realized he was refluxing in the middle of the night and then would choke until he could get it back down, so we tried putting him in the bouncer. But that didn't work so we ended up buying a Nap Nanny. Although it is ridiculously expensive, it also made all the difference in the world. He no longer sounds like he is choking which puts both his parents at ease.

At two weeks you are:
* Eating 3 ounces of breast milk every 3 hours
* Love sounds. You will not go to sleep in mommy and daddy are talking.
*Wearing newborn diapers and clothes (but you have already out grown some of the sleepers :-( )
* Are great at grabbing your daddy's collarbone and pulling the skin
*Swing your arms around consistently knocking out your paci (Which Daddy calls your stopper)
* Make the cutest little grunting sounds, especially when you can't fall asleep.

First Tummy Time

Our first tummy time. Andrew is really good at picking up his head. He didn't seem to mind being on his tummy. :-)

First Bath

Andrew had his first bath! Gigi helped mom since she was still gaining her energy. Daddy took pictures.  Andrew didn't seem to like it too much, but he is getting better with it.

What a Week!

Wow! It is crazy to think a week ago I was being admitted to the hospital to receive blood.  During those scariest moments, God continued to cover us in His grace and comfort. I remember being in the hospital room and God reminding me of the verse on Andrew's wall, "Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God is with you where ever you go." Joshua 1:9. How fitting for this situation! We were so blessed by so many during this week. We definitely felt covered in prayer and help! Thank you to all of you for praying for me!  I currently have normal labs! :-) And the doctor has put me on a blood pressure medicine. Hopefully, I wont have to stay on it for long.

Thank you Wes and Shelly for taking care of my sweet baby boy. What a true blessing it was to be able to drop him off and not have to worry about him. We knew what amazing hands he was in. Thank you, mom, for coming and taking Andrew for the nights so I could rest. Thank you to my sweet husband who played both mom and dad for several days as well as took care of me. You are such an encouragement to me! And most importantly, thank you Lord that I am well and able to take care of my sweet baby boy. I am so grateful to be his mommy and this situation definitely opened my eyes to the precious gift you have entrusted James and I with.

And for the real reason you came to the blog.... Pictures of our sweet boy

Andrew James Tyler

Yea! Andrew made his way into the world on Friday, February 10. He was born at 7:59 weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces, measuring 19 inches long.  James and I are SOOO blessed. I can't begin to describe how much I love this sweet little boy.  James was absolutely AMAZING husband during the delivery. I never knew after delivering Andrew I would live James even more. He was such an encourager and I would not have made it without him.  He is also such a wonderful daddy to Andrew which just fills my heart with so much JOY!  Below are some of the first pictures of our family of 3. Some how I did not get any pics of Aunt Shelly, Uncle Wes, Gigi, Pawpaw but they were definitely there. I am going to have to hunt down some!!!
